Name story
The favourite cocktail of Brazilians, elevated to the status of official drink of Brazil in 2003, the Caïpirinha is said to have originated around São Paulo in the 1920s. It was originally a medicinal drink designed to fight the Spanish flu raging in the countryside. Its recipe differed slightly from the current one, as peasants added honey and garlic.
